Saad Rafique Declines to Contest NA-129 Lahore By-Election

Lahore: PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has announced his decision not to contest the upcoming by-election for the NA-129 Lahore seat.
In a statement, Rafique clarified that participating in the by-election was the fundamental right of local candidates. He further explained that due to certain unavoidable political reasons, he would not be contesting as a candidate.
The by-election for NA-129 Lahore was triggered by the passing of senior politician Mian Azhar. The Election Commission has announced that the by-poll will take place on September 18. The electoral schedule has been released, with nomination papers to be submitted between August 4 and 6. The preliminary list of candidates will be issued on August 7, followed by scrutiny of the nomination papers, which will be completed by August 11. Appeals can be filed from August 12 to 16, and decisions on these appeals will be made by August 20.
