Four Children Die After Consuming Toxic Food in Gujranwala; Forensic Report Reveals Poisoning

GUJRANWALA: Shocking revelations have emerged in the tragic case of four children who died after consuming contaminated food in Punjab’s Gujranwala district. Forensic reports have confirmed that the children were poisoned with *phosphine*, a highly toxic substance, rather than suffering from ordinary food poisoning.

The incident occurred on June 29 in the Moar Eminabad area, where four children fell critically ill after eating the tainted food. Eleven-year-old Noor Fatima, eight-year-old Haider, and five-year-old Jannat died earlier, while 13-year-old Aimen succumbed last night.

According to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency’s findings, phosphine poison — commonly found in wheat preservation tablets — was detected in the urine and liver samples of the deceased children. The substance severely damaged their lungs, stomach, and liver.

The Punjab Food Authority spokesperson confirmed the results, stating: “The children were poisoned with phosphine. This was not a case of ordinary food poisoning.” He added that strict actions were being taken based on the family’s account.

Police have launched a formal investigation to determine who administered the poison and how it was given. Authorities assured the bereaved family that all aspects of the case will be thoroughly investigated.

Food Authority officials also issued a public health advisory, urging people to immediately consult a doctor in case of vomiting, nausea, or stomach pain, and to use oral rehydration solutions. They further advised citizens to avoid fried and stale foods, always check expiry dates on packaged items, and exercise caution with spices and processed foods.

The tragic deaths have sparked widespread concern, as authorities vow to uncover the full truth behind the poisoning.
