I have no contact with Sohail Afridi; I fought to get him the ticket: Gandapur

PESHAWAR: Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said he has no contact with Sohail Afridi and that he had fought to get him the party ticket.

Speaking on an ARY News programme, he said he had told Imran Khan that he did not see his release while sitting in that chair. Afridi’s name had come up three months earlier as finalised, he said, and there were clear instructions that Ali Amin would run the government while Tehreek would be run by Junaid Akbar and the organisation.

Gandapur said he had told Imran Khan he would not see his release while occupying that office. There had been pressure, meetings with Khan were taking place and facilities were also available, he added.

Those whom Imran Khan has assigned the responsibility will lead the long march, he said. “It cannot be that the responsibility is given to someone else and then put around my neck. Why should I go to their meeting? I also have some reservations about them.”

He repeated that he had no contact with Sohail Afridi. Afridi was not getting the ticket and he had fought to get it for him. He said he had had no contact with Afridi for the past 10 months.

“No one has the courage that anyone blocks my number,” he said. “Yes, I had blocked it.”
