Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances Disposes of 103 Cases in August

Islamabad: The Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances disposed of 103 cases during August, according to official data.
From March 2011 to August 2025, the commission received a total of 10,618 cases, of which 8,873 have been resolved — marking 83.56% of the total. Out of the resolved cases, the whereabouts of 6,809 missing persons were successfully traced.
Currently, 1,745 cases remain under investigation at the commission’s registries in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Quetta. Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa registry is expected to become operational in the third week of this month.
The commission has also launched virtual hearings via video link, a move aimed at saving time and travel costs for the families of missing persons and other stakeholders.
Chairman Justice Syed Arshad Hussain Shah continues to visit various cities to ensure speedy disposal of cases and to provide justice to affected families at their doorstep.
