Punjab Flood Victims Struggle Under Open Sky as Diseases Spread

Lahore:Flood-affected families in Punjab are forced to live under the open sky as **lack of relief arrangements** worsens their plight. In **Chuhang, Lahore**, children and adults are suffering from **skin infections and other illnesses** due to poor living conditions.
Mothers at the camp revealed that **milk is unavailable for infants**, forcing them to fill feeders with water, which has led to children vomiting and falling sick.
In one relief camp, the condition of a **two-month-old infant** has alarmed families, as **blood was reported coming from his eyes**. Women themselves are also suffering from widespread **skin diseases**.
“We don’t know what to do or where to go in these conditions,” said a distressed mother, adding that **no hygiene measures** are being taken at the camps, rendering medicines ineffective.
Another affected woman said their **only source of income—a rickshaw—was submerged in floodwater and destroyed**, leaving the family completely helpless.
Flood-hit communities have appealed to the authorities for **urgent medical aid, food, and shelter** to prevent the crisis from deepening further.
