Imran Khan Files Complaint Against Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Over Jail Conditions

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has filed a formal complaint with the Chief Police Officer (CPO) against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, seeking the registration of a case over alleged mistreatment during his imprisonment.

The complaint, sent via courier by Khan’s lawyer Tabish Farooq, highlights the denial of basic rights and facilities to the former prime minister while in custody. The application names a total of eight individuals, including the jail superintendent, ASP Zainab, and SHO Aizaz, in addition to the Punjab CM.

According to the complaint, Imran Khan has been deprived of basic prisoner rights, including adequate lighting in his cell and the ability to meet with his family. The petition alleges these actions are being carried out under the direct orders of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

It further states that Adiala Jail falls under Punjab’s jurisdiction and recalls past statements by Maryam Nawaz, accusing her of making threatening remarks, including labeling Imran Khan a “fitna” (source of chaos) who must be eliminated. The complaint also accuses police officials of harassing Khan’s family and violating court orders that allow family visits.

Imran Khan’s legal team has requested that a criminal case be registered against Maryam Nawaz and the seven other officials for their alleged involvement in the mistreatment and rights violations.
