Islamabad High Court Halts Deportation of 18 Afghan Nationals, Seeks Government Response

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has restrained authorities from proceeding with the deportation of 18 Afghan nationals and has issued notices to the Ministry of Interior, NADRA, the Director General of Immigration, FIA, and the police, seeking their responses.
Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar issued the written order on Monday following a petition filed on behalf of the Afghan nationals. Lawyers Adil Aziz Qazi and others appeared in court on behalf of the petitioners.
According to the court order, the government had cancelled the Petitioners’ Proof of Registration (PoR) cards on August 4 and ordered their repatriation. The petitioners belong to the family of the late Fazal-ur-Rehman, who had applied for Pakistani citizenship in 2008 after fulfilling all legal requirements. However, no decision has been made on his citizenship application to date.
The court has directed all parties to submit para-wise comments by the next hearing and has ordered a halt to any further action against the petitioners in the meantime.
The next hearing of the case has been scheduled for **September 18, 2025**.
