KESCo Disconnects 25,678 Agricultural Connections in Balochistan Under Phase-IV of Solarization Project

Quetta: The Quetta Electric Supply Company (KESCo) has successfully completed Phase-IV of the solarization project in Balochistan, disconnecting all agricultural tube well connections from the power grid. As part of this phase, 12,250 agricultural connections were removed from the KESCo network following the release of PKR 24.5 billion by the government.

In addition to the disconnections, KESCo dismantled 698 high-tension (HT) poles and 2,370 agricultural transformers, along with other associated electrical equipment from the relevant areas to prevent re-connection to the grid.

This solarization initiative began with Phase-I, during which 2,699 registered and 513 illegal agricultural connections were disconnected after the government released PKR 5.4 billion. The process began on December 20, 2024, and was completed by January 17, 2025.

In Phase-II, the government disbursed PKR 7.4 billion, enabling KESCo to disconnect 3,729 registered and 933 illegal tube well connections, totaling 4,662 agricultural users.

Phase-III saw the disconnection of 7,000 agricultural connections after a funding release of PKR 14 billion.

With Phase-IV now complete, a cumulative total of 25,678 agricultural connections have been disconnected across the province. KESCo has also removed 8,905 agricultural transformers and 4,716 HT poles along with their associated equipment to ensure these connections are not re-established.

KESCo has appealed to all solarized agricultural consumers who have received government funds but have yet to return their transformers, HT poles, or other electrical equipment, to cooperate with KESCo teams promptly. This cooperation is essential for the timely and successful completion of the solarization project.
