Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aaeen Pakistan Announces Nationwide Strike and Black Day on February 8

Islamabad: Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aaeen Pakistan (PTAP) has announced a nationwide “wheel jam” and shutter-down strike on February 8, 2026, to be observed as a Black Day, marking the alleged establishment of an illegitimate system. This decision was made at the conclusion of a two-day national consultative conference attended by political and civil society representatives from across the country.

The conference communiqué outlined demands for a thorough investigation into alleged rigging in the February 8, 2024, elections and the holding of immediate free and fair elections under a new impartial Chief Election Commissioner. It rejected the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments, calling for the restoration of judicial independence in accordance with the 1973 Constitution, and condemned actions against judges including Justice Tariq Jahangiri.

The communiqué also called for the immediate release of PTI founder Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and other political detainees, including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, Ali Wazir, and Mah Rang Baloch. PTAP denounced the PECA law and media restrictions, demanded parliamentary oversight of military participation in the Gaza Peace Force, recognition of provincial rights over mineral resources, and the restoration of student unions.

To mobilize public support, PTAP announced the formation of central and sub-committees to lead awareness and activism initiatives nationwide.
