Sikh Student Scores 98 out of 100 in Islamic Studies in Lahore Board Exam, Earns Praise from Education Minister

Lahore – In a surprising turn amid generally disappointing results in Punjab’s 9th-grade exams, a Sikh student, Onkar Singh, from Crescent Model Higher Secondary School, Shadman Colony, Lahore, has made headlines by scoring exceptionally high marks in Islamic Studies and Translation of the Holy Quran—subjects typically associated with Muslim students.

According to a result card shared by Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, Onkar Singh secured 98 out of 100 in *Islamiat Lazmi* (Islamic Studies) and 49 out of 50 in *Tarjuma-tul-Quran* (Translation of the Holy Quran). His overall academic performance was equally impressive, with full marks in English (75/75), Mathematics (75/75), Physics (60/60), and Chemistry (60/60), and nearly perfect scores in Urdu (74/75) and Biology (59/60).

Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat publicly praised the student and raised a thought-provoking question: “Should the teachers who are failing Muslim students not be held accountable?”

The remarkable achievement of Onkar Singh has sparked a broader conversation about the quality of teaching and the need for educational reforms to ensure all students, regardless of background, receive fair opportunities and guidance.
