Autism Center Assistant Fired, FIR Registered After Child Abuse Incident in Karachi

KARACHI: A shocking case of child abuse surfaced in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, where a female assistant at the Autism Care and Rehabilitation Organization was caught on video physically assaulting a special-needs teenager. The footage quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread public outrage.

Following the backlash, the institution immediately terminated the employment of the assistant, identified as Safia Naz.

According to SHO Gulshan-e-Iqbal Naeem Rajput, an FIR (No. 601/2025) has been registered against her under Sections 328-A, 337-A(i), and the Child Protection Act.

Police officials stated that investigations are ongoing, and the family of the victimized child is being contacted to establish all facts of the case.
