Drug Smuggling Attempt Foiled at Islamabad Airport: Umrah-Bound Passenger Arrested with Wife and Mother-in-Law

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) foiled a major drug smuggling attempt at Islamabad International Airport, arresting a passenger bound for Umrah along with his wife and mother-in-law.

According to the ANF spokesperson, the two women had ingested a total of **83 heroin-filled capsules**. The wife was carrying 12 capsules, while the mother-in-law had ingested 71. The total recovered heroin weighed **549 grams**.

The suspects were taken to a hospital where medical tests confirmed the presence of the drug-filled capsules in their stomachs.

This timely operation by ANF prevented a serious embarrassment for Pakistan on the international stage. The spokesperson emphasized that drug traffickers targeting religious pilgrims is a deeply troubling trend, and ANF remains fully committed to cracking down on such criminal elements.

The suspects have been transferred to the ANF police station, and cases have been registered under the Anti-Narcotics Act. Investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other members of the smuggling network.
