Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Launches 2025 Monsoon Plantation Drive, Stresses Urgent Need for Forest Protection

Quetta:Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, **Justice Rozi Khan Bareech**, emphasized the urgent need for **forest conservation and expansion** to tackle the growing challenges of **climate change**. He made these remarks while inaugurating the **2025 Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign** organized by the Forest and Wildlife Department at **Koh-e-Murdar**, Quetta.
During the inauguration ceremony, Justice Bareech personally planted a tree and highlighted the shared responsibility of all citizens to ensure a **clean and healthy environment** for future generations. “Tree plantation is not just a campaign; it’s a commitment to our environment and our children’s future,” he stated.
Other notable attendees included Justices **Iqbal Ahmed Kasi** and **Mohammad Amir Nawaz Rana**, Registrar of the Balochistan High Court **Abdul Qayyum Lehri**, Secretary of Forest and Wildlife **Abdul Fattah Bhanger**, Director General **Niaz Kakar**, and several other senior officials.
Justice Bareech called on the Forest Department to **focus not only on planting trees but also on their long-term care and irrigation**, especially in urban and vulnerable areas.
Addressing the gathering, Secretary Abdul Fattah Bhanger said that under the vision of **Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti**, the Forest and Wildlife Department is taking **integrated and strategic measures** to promote environmental sustainability in Balochistan. He termed the monsoon plantation drive as a **cornerstone initiative** in these efforts.
He revealed that in Koh-e-Murdar alone, **60,000 trees have been planted over 150 acres**, marking a significant step toward the **”Clean and Green Balochistan”** dream. He also urged the public to actively participate, saying, “Tree plantation is a **national duty**, and public participation is essential for the success of this campaign.”
The event concluded with a call for **collective action** to fight environmental degradation and build a greener, healthier future for the province.
