Over 6,000 Motorcycles Seized in Quetta Amid Crackdown on Unregistered and Unnumbered Bikes: SSP Operations

Quetta:Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations, **Mohammad Baloch**, has revealed that Quetta traffic police have taken action against over **6,000 motorcycles** within the past month as part of a targeted crackdown on unregistered and number-plate-less vehicles.

Speaking at a joint press conference on Thursday at the DIG Office Quetta—alongside SSP Traffic Dr. Sami Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Anwar Kakar, and ETO Excise Hassan Shah Kakar—SSP Mohammad Baloch emphasized that **90% of crimes in Quetta are committed using motorcycles**.

As a result, the police have intensified their efforts against **unregistered motorcycles and those operating without proper number plates**. Citizens were urged to ensure that **both front and rear number plates** are installed on their bikes to avoid legal consequences.

### 🛑 Crackdown Details:

* Motorcyclists have a **4-hour window** to produce documents after seizure, failing which legal action will be initiated.
* **Joint facilitation centers** have been set up for public convenience, enabling quick registration of motorcycles.

* One center is located at **Civil Lines Police Station** (City Circle),
* The other at **SP Sariab’s Office** (Sariab Circle).

### 🔢 Crackdown Statistics:

* Since the campaign began on **August 1**, a total of **6,368 motorcycles** have been seized.
* Offenders were fined a total of **Rs. 7.8 million**.
* Police registered **550 FIRs under Section 1901** and **188 FIRs under Section 1986**.
* Traffic police seized **2,481 motorcycles** during routine double riding checks and documentation inspections.

SSP Baloch further announced that after motorcycles, the campaign will extend to **unregistered cars**. He stated that operating an unregistered or numberless vehicle is **a criminal offense** and not acceptable in any civilized society.

### 🗣️ Public Cooperation Encouraged:

He urged citizens to **cooperate with the police**, register their vehicles properly, and avoid legal trouble. He reassured the public that those whose motorcycles were impounded can **easily access their local police stations** for resolution.

The crackdown has already resulted in a **significant drop in street crime**, and the ongoing campaign will continue until every motorcycle in Quetta is properly registered.
