Balochistan High Court Orders Restoration of Mobile Internet, Withdrawal of Public Transport Ban

Quetta: In a major decision, the Balochistan High Court has ordered the provincial government to **immediately restore mobile internet services** in areas without security threats and to **withdraw the notification suspending public transport** across the province.
Chief Justice Rozi Khan Bareech and Justice Sardar Ahmed Halimi heard the petition challenging the suspension of services. Senior government officials including the Advocate General of Balochistan, Additional Attorney General, and Home Department representatives appeared before the court.
The government had earlier suspended mobile data services and public transport in view of security concerns during Chehlum processions, with a plan to keep mobile internet shut until **August 31, 2025**.
The court questioned the blanket ban, asking, *“Are there security threats across the entire province?”* to which officials replied that the threats were limited to specific areas.
The court then ordered:
Immediate restoration of mobile data services** in all areas not facing security threats.
Immediate withdrawal of the transport suspension notification.
Review of the decision to keep data services suspended until August 31.
The hearing has been adjourned until **August 21, 2025
