Baloch Tribal Truce Extended for Six Months; Grand Jirga Planned to Resolve Abro-Shahwani Dispute

Naseerabad:Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) chief and Federal Minister for Science and Technology Nawabzada Mir Khalid Khan Magsi, along with Balochistan Assembly Member Prince Agha Umar Ahmedzai, has announced a six-month extension to the ceasefire in the long-standing tribal conflict between the Abro and Shahwani tribes. The leaders also confirmed that a **grand tribal jirga** will soon be convened to work toward a permanent resolution.

Speaking to the media at Jamot House in Dera Murad Jamali, Khalid Magsi emphasized that **peace and reconciliation among tribes is essential for Balochistan’s progress and stability.** He stated that efforts are being made to resolve tribal disputes through mutual understanding and traditional tribal mechanisms rather than violence or external intervention.

The federal minister and delegation, carrying a traditional *maerh* (tribal delegation), met with **former provincial minister and Jamot Qaumi Movement chairman Mir Abdul Majid Abro**, who welcomed the initiative and agreed to the extended truce and jirga formation. Magsi expressed gratitude for Abro’s constructive approach and willingness to support peace.

The gathering included a large number of tribal elders and political figures, including Nawabzada Aziz Khan Magsi, former provincial minister Mir Abdul Ghafoor Lehri, Mir Shaukat Jan Bangulzai, JUI-F leader Maulana Abdullah Jatak, and several local leaders from both tribes.

As part of the truce agreement, **advisory committees were formed from both sides** to facilitate dialogue. From the Abro side, advisors include:

* Mir Ali Hassan Jamot
* Former provincial minister Babu Muhammad Amin Umrani
* Mir Haji Nisar Khan Khosa

From the Shahwani side:

* Sardar Kamal Khan Bangulzai
* Sardar Azeem Jan Muhammad Shahi
* Sardar Asim Khan Sarpara

The ceasefire will remain in effect until **December 31**, during which time both sides have pledged to avoid any hostile actions and continue the dialogue process through their appointed intermediaries.

The meeting also saw broad participation from the local community, religious scholars, and tribal notables, who welcomed the peace efforts. It was emphasized that only through **the resolution of tribal feuds can lasting peace, prosperity, and unity be achieved in Balochistan.**
