BSO Condemns Continuous Internet Shutdown in Balochistan, Calls it a Conspiracy Against Youth’s Education

Quetta:The central spokesperson of the Balochistan Students Organization (BSO) issued a statement condemning the ongoing internet shutdown across Balochistan, calling it a deliberate state conspiracy and the criminal collaboration of the provincial government. The statement emphasized that this action is an intentional effort to deprive educated youth of access to education, research, and intellectual growth.
The spokesperson pointed out that in today’s world, the internet has become as essential as water and electricity. “Online classes, access to research material, admission forms and exam submissions on university portals, scholarship applications, e-libraries, and global educational competitions all depend on the internet,” the spokesperson said. However, in Balochistan, this essential service is repeatedly suspended, pushing students into a state of ignorance and backwardness.
The statement further highlighted that Balochistan’s students are already struggling with several severe issues, including the lack of quality educational institutions and libraries in most districts. In remote areas, there is a shortage of teachers, and educational infrastructure is in a state of ruin. Universities and colleges lack modern laboratories and research facilities. For students, the internet is the only resource to access educational materials, and repeatedly cutting off this resource is akin to choking their educational prospects.
The BSO made it clear that both federal institutions and provincial rulers are equally complicit in this crime. “Ministers are preoccupied with preserving their privileges and positions, while millions of students are being pushed into the darkness of an uncertain academic future,” the statement added.
The BSO has warned that if the internet is not immediately restored, they, along with fellow student organizations, will launch a vigorous protest movement across Balochistan. “This is not just a fight for the restoration of the internet; it is a struggle for knowledge, awareness, and fundamental rights,” the spokesperson said. “BSO will not step back an inch from its struggle against anti-student measures.”
