Akbar S. Babar Demands Apology from Australian High Commissioner for Meeting with PTI’s Illegal Chairman

Islamabad: Akbar S. Babar, the founding member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has written a letter to the Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Neil Hawkins, urging him to acknowledge the mistake of meeting with Barrister Gohar Khan, who has been declared the unlawful chairman of PTI.
In his letter, Akbar S. Babar emphasized the importance of respecting the decisions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, which ruled that Barrister Gohar Khan is not the legitimate chairman of PTI. He criticized the Australian High Commissioner for meeting with Gohar Khan, whose claim to the PTI chairmanship has been deemed legally invalid.
Babar referred to the Supreme Court’s ruling from January 13, 2024, and noted that the court had clearly stated that Gohar Khan did not provide any credible evidence to support his claim of being the PTI chairman. Babar stressed that the decision is still legally binding.
The letter called on the Australian government to respect Pakistan’s constitutional principles, especially those upheld by the Supreme Court. Akbar S. Babar further demanded that the Australian High Commission provide a formal clarification regarding the meeting and recognize the legal standing of the Supreme Court’s decision.
In his communication, Babar urged the Australian High Commissioner to acknowledge the error in engaging with an individual who unlawfully claims to be the leader of a political party.
