Over 5,700 Child Sexual Abuse Cases Reported in Punjab Over Six Years

Lahore:More than 5,000 cases of sexual abuse involving underage boys and girls have been reported in Punjab over the past six years, according to an official report.
The report states that a total of 5,761 incidents of sexual abuse against minors were recorded across the province during this period. It further revealed that 638 cases involved gang rape of underage children.
According to the data, out of 9,524 accused nominated in child abuse cases, 1,073 could not be arrested. Similarly, in gang rape cases, 258 suspects out of 1,710 accused remain at large.
The report also noted progress in investigations, stating that challans (charge sheets) have been completed in 5,756 child abuse cases. In gang rape cases, challans have been submitted in 518 cases, while 334 cases are still under investigation and one case remains untraced.
The figures have raised serious concerns about child protection, law enforcement effectiveness, and the need for stronger measures to ensure justice and safety for minors in the province.
