Bodies of Young Couple Found Near Karachi’s China Port Identified — Suspected Honour Killing

The bodies of a man and woman found near Karachi’s Clifton China Port have been identified as Sajid Masih and Sana Asif, both originally from the same village in Gujranwala, Punjab. According to DIG South Asad Raza, the couple had reportedly run away from home on July 15 with intentions to marry.

Police investigations revealed that Sana’s brother, Waqas, had filed a kidnapping case on July 17 at Tatlay Aali Police Station in Gujranwala, naming Sajid and four others. Karachi police are now working closely with Gujranwala authorities, and Waqas has been taken into custody for interrogation.

DIG Raza confirmed that if no family members of the victims come forward, the case will be registered under state authority. He also stated that there is a possibility that a close relative may be involved in the double murder.

The bodies, found earlier today, showed signs of torture and gunshot wounds. Police recovered two 9mm shell casings from the scene. Initial reports suggest the victims were aged between 30 and 35.

Police suspect the murders may be linked to so-called “honour killing,” a grim reminder of societal challenges faced by couples defying traditional norms. Investigations are ongoing, and Karachi police may travel to Gujranwala if required.
