Nationwide Crackdown on Smuggling Yields Drugs Worth Over Rs 7.7 Million

ََIslamabad:A nationwide crackdown against drug smuggling has led to the recovery of narcotics worth more than Rs 7.7 million, with over 33 kilograms of drugs seized and suspects, including a woman, arrested in multiple operations.

According to a spokesperson for the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), three separate operations were conducted in different cities across the country as part of the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking. During these operations, two suspects, including a female, were arrested and a total of 33.62 kilograms of narcotics valued at over Rs 7.7 million were recovered.

The first operation was carried out at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, where ANF officials recovered 14.912 kilograms of ice (crystal meth) concealed in clothing during the search of luggage belonging to a passenger traveling to Jeddah. Timely action by ANF personnel foiled the smuggling attempt, and the suspect was taken into custody.

In the second operation, conducted at the cargo shed of Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, 13.350 kilograms of ice were recovered from a parcel destined for the Philippines. The narcotics were found concealed in clothing. Acting on intelligence information, ANF officials successfully thwarted the attempt to smuggle drugs abroad.

The third operation took place near Tarnol Toll Plaza, Rawalpindi, where 4.800 kilograms of hashish were recovered from a female passenger. Authorities stated that the woman was attempting to transport the drugs from one location to another and was arrested during the operation.

The ANF spokesperson confirmed that all recovered narcotics have been seized, and cases have been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997. Further investigations are underway.

The ANF reiterated that operations against drug smuggling will continue without discrimination and that strict legal action will be taken against all individuals involved in this illegal trade.
