Quetta: An important meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on the implementation of the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti at the Chief Minister Secretariat. The meeting saw participation from parliamentary members of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League (PML), Awami National Party (ANP), and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), who discussed the progress of proposed development schemes and made crucial decisions to ensure their timely completion.
Additional Chief Secretary for Development and Planning, Zahid Saleem, gave a detailed briefing to the participants on the comparison of previous PSDP, the nature of current PSDP schemes, available funds, and the pace of implementation. During the meeting, CM Bugti emphasized that the government’s top priority is the timely and quality completion of development projects linked to public welfare.
He stated that all schemes with funding up to 65 crore rupees must be completed by February 2026, and any delay will be unacceptable. CM Bugti further assured that consultations for the planning of next year’s budget and development priorities will be completed by March 2026, ensuring the inclusion of all stakeholders’ opinions to formulate a comprehensive and effective PSDP that benefits the common people.
CM Bugti added that all future development schemes’ PC-I (Project Concept) will be prepared based on accurate cost estimates, and tentative or vague estimates will not be accepted as they lead to mismanagement, delays, and corruption. He stressed the need for prioritizing realistic and essential projects based on available resources to enable faster execution.
He highlighted that transparency, speed, and quality are the three fundamental pillars of the development process, and there will be no compromise at any level. Furthermore, he emphasized that the consultation and suggestions of elected public representatives would not only be a part of the development priorities but would also increase transparency and public trust in the government.
The Chief Minister emphasized that timely completion of each scheme is essential for restoring public confidence. He assured that the government would directly oversee the speed of execution and monitor key projects, ensuring that there would be zero tolerance for corruption, mismanagement, or misuse of resources.
In conclusion, CM Bugti reiterated that Balochistan’s development is a collective responsibility, requiring political harmony, institutional cooperation, and administrative seriousness. The provincial government is working towards sustainable development through transparent, effective, and actionable strategies, ensuring complete monitoring and accountability during implementation to achieve the ultimate goal of public welfare.
