CM Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti Prioritizes Timely Completion of Development Projects and Accountability in Government

Quetta, Pakistan:Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of ongoing development projects and the performance of provincial departments. During the meeting, he reaffirmed that the timely, transparent, and result-oriented completion of public welfare and development projects remains the primary focus of the current government.

Mir Sarfaraz Bugti emphasized that the provincial administration needs to modernize, moving away from sluggish, traditional methods and non-responsible behaviors to meet the demands of the contemporary world. He made it clear that negligence, corruption, and poor performance would not be tolerated. “All departments must adhere strictly to the principles of merit and accountability,” he stated.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shakil Qadir Khan, secretaries from various provincial departments, and other relevant authorities. Chief Secretary Qadir presented a detailed briefing on the ongoing development activities, departmental performance, and future strategies.

Among the significant updates shared was a major project aimed at converting Balochistan’s industrial estates to solar energy, with an expected annual output of five billion units of electricity. So far, 27,437 agricultural tube wells have been converted to solar systems, and 15,000 households have been provided with home solar systems. Additionally, 15 new industrial units have been established in the province, fostering industrial revival and creating job opportunities.

In the education sector, significant strides were made over the past year. A total of 3,049 schools were reactivated, enrolling 234,779 children. Over 10,500 teachers were hired, and 17,907 teachers were trained. The department also reduced unnecessary posts, leading to substantial cost savings. Furthermore, 14,131 out-of-school children were re-integrated into the education system.

The government has also introduced several noteworthy initiatives, including the **first-ever Women’s Endowment Fund** for the empowerment of women, the installation of smart boards in 380 schools to promote modern technology in education, and the introduction of a nutrition program for students. Moreover, the **Kisan Card** has been launched to provide farmers with direct access to government services.

In a bid to strengthen environmental protection, the government has allocated 500 million rupees for an **Environmental Endowment Fund** and created a **Wildlife Endowment Fund**. In terms of infrastructure, 1,328 kilometers of roads have been constructed, and 927 development schemes, valued at 40 billion rupees, have been completed. Additionally, the **Board of Revenue** has exceeded its annual revenue target, reaching 500 billion rupees—an improvement reflecting better fiscal management.

The Chief Minister instructed all department secretaries to conduct regular inspections within the province and ensure the approval of smaller projects by August 15. He also urged them to accelerate the pace of development to quickly deliver results to the public.

In his closing remarks, CM Bugti emphasized the importance of transparent and timely completion of projects. He reiterated that government offices must operate with greater efficiency, and all departments should collaborate to eliminate obstacles hindering the progress of development projects.

Furthermore, he directed the **Labour Department** to present the full details of the **Youth Skills Development Program** next week and vowed that any delay in this critical project would not be tolerated, as it is seen as a cornerstone of Balochistan’s future.

Highlighting the province’s fight against drug abuse, CM Bugti reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and ordered an extensive crackdown on drug mafias across Balochistan. He also instructed the **Social Welfare Department** to ensure no drug addicts remain on the streets within the next three months.

Finally, the Chief Minister expressed his frustration with the sluggishness in government offices and stressed that only performance would determine the future of the officials, stating that effective and timely completion of projects is essential for the collective success of the government.
