Two Abducted Along With Courier Company Vehicle in Balochistan; Rs25 Million Ransom Demanded, Security Sources Claim
QUETTA: Two individuals were allegedly abducted along with a courier company’s mini truck from the Khad Kocha area on the Quetta-Karachi Highway, with militants demanding Rs25 million in ransom for their release, according to security sources.
Security sources claimed that members of the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) carried out the abduction on July 24 and later threatened to kill the hostages if the ransom was not paid. The alleged ransom demand was conveyed to the courier company on July 26.
According to the sources, the incident reflects an alleged pattern of criminal activities being used to finance terrorism. They claimed that, in addition to militant attacks, BLA operatives have been involved in bank robberies, vehicle theft, extortion, and kidnapping for ransom.
Security officials alleged that such activities serve both as a source of funding for militant operations and as a means of spreading fear and instability in the region.
They further stated that the greatest impact of these incidents is borne by ordinary Baloch citizens, local traders, and the overall peace and security situation in Balochistan.
