Ali Amin Gandapur Delivered Two-Thirds Majority on a Platter to Federal Government: Senior Journalist Mohammad Malik

Islamabad: Senior journalist Mohammad Malik has responded to the Senate election results, claiming that Ali Amin Gandapur handed the federal government a two-thirds majority on a platter.
Speaking on ARY’s talk show, Mohammad Malik stated that in this election, no vote from PTI was slipped, and all votes were cast. He highlighted the sudden agreement on a formula, “6 and 5,” to prevent horse-trading. However, he noted that every election has a “magical number,” and this time it was the number five.
According to Malik, securing the number five was crucial for the federal government to achieve a two-thirds majority in the Senate. Even if PTI received two fewer or more seats, it wouldn’t have made a significant difference.
He emphasized that the federal government needed the “magic number” five to secure the two-thirds majority in the Senate, a target that Ali Amin Gandapur had already laid out. Based on the vote ratio, PTI would comfortably win eight seats, while the opposition would secure three seats. This, according to Malik, was no trivial matter. Gandapur and Barrister Saif were aware that if the formula of five was finalized, the federal government would achieve the two-thirds majority in the Senate.
According to official results from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly for the Senate elections, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won six seats, including Murad Saeed, while the opposition secured five seats.
As reported by Dawn News, the Election Commission has declared the official results of all candidates, and the Returning Officer has issued the Election Certificate Form 58.
The official results show that PTI’s Murad Saeed received 26 votes, Faisal Javed secured 22 votes, Noorul Haq Qadri and Mirza Gul Afridi each gained 21 votes, Azam Swati received 89 votes, and PTI’s Rubina Naz also received 89 votes, securing their victory.
On the other hand, opposition candidates, including Talha Mehmood of the PPP with 17 votes, Niaz Ahmad Khan from PML-N with 18 votes, JUI-F’s Atta-ul-Haq Darvesh and Dlaawar Khan, with 18 and 54 votes respectively, along with PPP’s Rubina Khalid winning on the women’s seat, also emerged victorious.
