Islamabad’s Tayyip Erdogan Interchange Road Collapses After First Rain, Sparks Criticism

The recently constructed road at Islamabad’s Tayyip Erdogan Interchange has collapsed after just one heavy rainfall, with a video of the incident going viral on social media. The video shows a large pothole forming on the road, which is then being filled in.

As the video spread, social media users criticized the government harshly. One user wrote, “This is how the country is being looted.” Another user, named Khan, commented on the collapse, saying, “Now catch the contractor.”

Khawar Azhar sarcastically remarked, “Brother, if the quality of work was like this, they should have just named it after a Pakistani brother, as they have already embarrassed such a great friend.”

An X user added, “There is always room for improvement in construction projects. Hopefully, precautions will be taken in the future.”

It is noteworthy that the Tayyip Erdogan Interchange project was initially scheduled to be completed in 180 days, but it was finished in just 84 days. The project included the construction of 4.3 kilometers of roads connected to F-10 and the installation of 2 kilometers of drains for rainwater drainage. Despite the rapid completion, the collapse has raised concerns over the quality of construction work.
