Pushtunkhwa’s Divided Fate: Eyaz Khan Jogezai Calls for Unity to Safeguard Resources and Future

Ziarat, Pakistan:In a powerful address at a grand *Olsi Jirga* (tribal council) held in Ziarat, central secretary of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Nawab Mohammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai, emphasized the critical need for unity among the Pashtun people to secure their future and resources. He warned that the Pashtun nation is at a perilous stage of division, which threatens not only their cultural identity but also their natural wealth, including precious minerals, forests, and mountains.
The jirga, which gathered prominent Pashtun leaders and citizens, aimed to bridge gaps between various tribal groups, political factions, and communities. Nawab Jogezai expressed concern over the deepening rift between Pashtuns due to political, social, and ethnic differences, stressing that such divisions could lead to the loss of everything the people hold dear. “If Pashtuns remain divided, we may lose everything,” he said, urging the people to unite under a single platform to protect their land and resources.
In his speech, Jogezai also criticized the government’s policies, stating that powerful external forces have long set their eyes on the region’s vast resources. He highlighted how the current political leadership has compromised Pashtun interests by making deals with foreign powers and signing agreements that disadvantage the people of Pashtunkhwa. Jogezai condemned the exploitation of the region’s mineral wealth, saying that agreements made by corrupt politicians and military elites have led to the extraction of Pashtun resources without benefiting the local population.
Jogezai called on the Pashtun nation to take responsibility for its own future, stressing the importance of self-governance and decision-making. “We must solve our own problems without relying on the corrupt systems of government,” he asserted. He also emphasized the role of traditional jirgas, or councils, to mediate disputes and make decisions that reflect the collective will of the people.
The address also touched on the growing distrust in the judiciary, with Jogezai noting that the public’s faith in government courts is diminishing. He proposed that Pashtun communities should revive their traditional methods of dispute resolution through trusted elders to address local issues effectively.
The speech concluded with a call to action: to preserve Pashtun heritage, protect their land and future, and build a united front against both external exploitation and internal division.
Nawab Mohammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai concluded by stating that the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party would continue to organize similar jirgas across Pashtun regions to foster dialogue and collective decision-making. He reaffirmed that the unity and self-determination of Pashtuns are vital for the survival of their cultural and territorial identity.
