Balochistan Incident: No Marital Relationship Between Victims, Says Chief Minister

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has clarified that there was no marital relationship between the man and woman who were killed in the recent Sangan Degari incident.
Addressing a press conference in Quetta, the Chief Minister said the public deserves to know the facts. “It was being claimed on social media that the victims were a newlywed couple, but that is not true. The woman was a mother of five, and the man also had four or five children,” Bugti stated.
He added that authorities had taken notice of the incident even before the video of the killings went viral. “I directed the Inspector General to arrest the culprits immediately. So far, 11 people have been arrested, and raids are underway to apprehend more suspects,” he said. “Anyone involved in this case will be arrested and presented before the court.”
Bugti emphasized that the state has always stood by the oppressed, and it will continue to do so in this case as well. “The DSP has been suspended because it was his responsibility to inform the government about the matter. I am treating this as a test case,” he said.
In response to a question, the Chief Minister acknowledged that such ‘jirgas’ (tribal councils) are common but added, “We have stopped many of them, and we will not promote jirgas. We must operate according to the Constitution.”
