National Party’s Central Committee Discusses Challenges and Strategies for Balochistan’s Future

Quetta, Balochistan:The first-day meeting of the Central Committee of the National Party, chaired by party president Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, was held at Mohammad Shehi House in Quetta. During his address, Dr. Abdul Malik emphasized that the National Party’s politics of awareness and responsibility is essential for the defense and survival of Balochistan.

Dr. Malik highlighted that only political insight and seriousness could pave the way for constructive change in the province. However, he lamented the growing authoritarian system in Pakistan, where democratic institutions are being systematically weakened. He expressed concerns that the conditions in Balochistan were deliberately being worsened, with political parties marginalized and clear interference by the establishment at every level.

He also criticized unnecessary interference in transfers and postings, which had led to the sidelining of capable and hardworking bureaucrats, further impacting the governance system. According to Dr. Malik, Balochistan is currently experiencing the worst law and order situation, with roads becoming unsafe and the government absent from action.

Furthermore, he condemned the suspension of cross-border trade, calling it a negative measure that had left millions of people jobless and created the potential for a severe humanitarian crisis. Dr. Malik also criticized the provincial budget, pointing out that for the first time, it was presented in a USB format rather than in book form, likely to conceal dubious schemes.

He added that corruption in Balochistan had negatively impacted development, employment, and security. Regarding the government’s attitude toward public employees, he denounced their harsh treatment, noting that instead of resolving employees’ grievances through dialogue, the government had resorted to arrests and violence.

Dr. Malik further stressed the need for strengthening the party’s organization, calling it an ongoing process that every worker must contribute to. He also mentioned the political and organizational workshop held on July 21-22, aimed at training and guiding party members.

The meeting saw organizational reports from various provinces, with reports presented by Advocate Chingez Hai Baloch for Balochistan, Majid Sajidi for Sindh, Ayub Malik for Punjab, and Abrar Barkat for Baloch Students Organization (BSO-Pajar). Other key speakers included Central Secretary General Mir Kabir Ahmed, Balochistan President Aslam Baloch, and others from Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan.

The meeting is set to continue on July 20 with further discussions on party strategies and the political situation in the province.
