Ali Amin Gandapur Accuses State Institutions of Political Manipulation, Calls Maulana Fazlur Rehman “Hypocrite”

Lahore: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, launched a scathing attack on state institutions and Maulana Fazlur Rehman during a press conference in Lahore, alleging that state institutions are playing a direct role in toppling and forming governments—something he insists is beyond their constitutional mandate.
Speaking to media representatives, Gandapur accused Maulana Fazlur Rehman of hypocrisy, claiming that the JUI-F leader is still covertly aligned with the establishment. He referenced Fazlur Rehman’s own statement that former army chief General Bajwa had asked him to help bring down the PTI government.
“Our party had initially forbidden us from commenting on Maulana, but his double standards must be exposed,” Gandapur said. “He uses religion to gain votes but has lost credibility—he couldn’t even secure his own seat in the last elections.”
The KP Chief Minister went on to challenge Fazlur Rehman, stating: “I dare him to contest an election against my brother. If he wins, I will quit politics. If he loses, he should walk away from it forever.”
Gandapur reiterated his support for the imprisoned founder of PTI, hinting at a nationwide movement. “Today marks the beginning of the 90-day countdown for change. We will mobilize people from every town and city to decide on localized protests or a unified gathering.”
He claimed that the 8th February elections proved the public had awakened politically and asserted that the founder of PTI faces baseless legal cases. “The cases against him are empty; they are not being pursued because there’s no substance to them.”
Ali Amin expressed frustration over what he called unprecedented political victimization against PTI and warned state institutions to refrain from exceeding their mandate. “I’m the son and brother of military men. We respect our institutions, but they need reform from within. Let’s sit together, admit our mistakes, and fix things.”
Gandapur also criticized current political parties, labeling them as opportunists who climbed into power using others’ shoulders. “Let them come out and face the public if they have any support,” he challenged, emphasizing the need for equal application of law and accountability for all.
He condemned the arrest of PTI’s founder’s wife and reiterated that only the PTI founder could resolve Pakistan’s current crises. “He is ready for dialogue for Pakistan’s sake,” Gandapur said.
The KP CM added that despite 56 FIRs filed against him on November 26, nothing has been proven. “If I am guilty of treason, then hang me in a public square,” he said defiantly.
He concluded by stating that PTI will seek permission to hold a peaceful rally in Lahore and reaffirmed that their movement will remain non-violent. “Don’t mistake our call for dialogue as weakness,” he warned, “We are standing for the future, not just for politics.”
