Sindh Police Cracks Down on Gutka-Chewing Officers; 10-Day Deadline Issued

Karachi:** In an unusual but commendable move, the **Sindh Police** has launched a campaign to crack down on the consumption of **gutka and mawa** (chewable tobacco) among its personnel. A formal **notification** has been issued ordering the preparation of a list of officers and staff addicted to gutka.
According to the notification, police personnel have been given **10 days to quit** the harmful substance. After the deadline, **disciplinary action** will be initiated against those who fail to comply.
The notification notes that gutka consumption not only poses serious health risks but also **damages the reputation and public image** of the police force. Officers and constables who continue the habit may face **departmental proceedings** and, in cases of persistent non-compliance, **dismissal from service**.
All districts across **Sindh** have been directed to submit reports identifying gutka-consuming personnel. Additionally, **progress reports** on the campaign are to be submitted to the **DIG Establishment every 15 days**.
This move is being seen as part of a broader effort to improve discipline, health, and professionalism within the Sindh Police.
