Preliminary Report on Faisalabad Factory Explosion Blames Excess Flammable Material and Untrained Staff

FAISALABAD:The Punjab government’s four-member inquiry committee has released the preliminary report on the factory explosion in the Malik Pur area of Faisalabad.
According to the report, the factory had an excessive storage of flammable materials, and the blast occurred due to negligence and untrained staff. The factory, which manufactured gel products, reportedly did not have a boiler, and various chemicals were in use on site. A gas cylinder leak, short circuit, and chemical reaction caused a powerful explosion, damaging nearby buildings as well.
The report added that the company owner could not be contacted for a statement. The inquiry committee included the Chief Boiler Inspector Punjab, DO Industry, Chief Inspector Boiler, and Faisalabad Boiler Engineer. The committee visited the site of the incident the previous day.
Last week, the explosion in the chemical factory killed 20 people, including women and children, and injured 7 others. The blast also caused the roofs of several nearby homes to collapse.
