Imran Khan’s Sons Are Not Muhammad Bin Qasim, Says Nusrat Javed

Islamabad: Senior journalist and analyst Nusrat Javed criticized the government’s response to reports of Imran Khan’s sons possibly visiting Pakistan, calling it immature and counterproductive. Speaking during a political talk show, Javed said that instead of issuing threats, the government should have diplomatically engaged with Jemima Goldsmith, the mother of Khan’s sons, to facilitate their travel.
“The government acted foolishly. Upon hearing news of their potential visit, the Pakistani ambassador should have immediately contacted Jemima, asked for their travel plans, requested their passports, and offered to issue visas,” Javed said. “Instead, they started issuing warnings.”
Responding to speculation that the sons’ arrival could boost PTI’s movement, Javed remarked, “His son’s name is Qasim, not Muhammad bin Qasim,” dismissing the idea that their presence would dramatically change the political situation.
Javed added that Imran Khan’s sons, Qasim and Sulaiman, are not heading to Pakistan but are instead traveling to the United States. There, they are expected to meet with individuals who had previously supported Imran Khan’s 2012 anti-drone campaign in Waziristan — a movement that was documented in a film funded by Jemima Goldsmith. He hinted at two significant meetings being planned in the U.S.
“I don’t see any immediate relief for Imran Khan,” he said. “And Mr. Trump is currently very pleased with Pakistan — that doesn’t help Imran either.”
