Balochistan Forestry and Wildlife Department Takes Strong Action Against Illegal Hunting of Suleimani Markhor

Quetta: The Balochistan Department of Forestry and Wildlife has taken swift and stringent action in response to the illegal hunting of the rare and valuable wildlife species, the Suleimani Markhor, in Takatu National Park. Following the incident, an FIR has been lodged against the culprits. The action was carried out on the special instructions of the Secretary of Forestry and Wildlife, Fatah Bhanger, and Chief Conservator of Wildlife, Shreefuddin Baloch, under the supervision of Deputy Conservator of Wildlife (DCW) for Takatu National Park, Syed Ata-ur-Rehman Tarn.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are residents of Kali Sara Ghargi, Quetta, and were involved in the illegal hunting of the Suleimani Markhor, which is a critically endangered species. Not only did these individuals violate hunting laws, but they also engaged in the reprehensible act of threatening wildlife department officials during the incident.

It has also come to light that the suspects are government employees currently stationed in Quetta Cantonment, which adds to the seriousness of the situation.

The Forestry and Wildlife Department has registered an FIR against the accused and has begun the departmental proceedings against them. Additionally, under the Balochistan Wildlife Protection Act of 2014, the preparation of a formal challan (charge sheet) is underway, which will soon be submitted to the court for prosecution. This will ensure that the accused face the strictest penalties as per the law.

The accused individuals named in the FIR include Rozi Khan, Kaleemullah, Saifullah, and Goher Khan.

The department has issued a strong appeal to the public, urging them to refrain from illegal hunting of rare wildlife species and to cooperate with the department in preserving the forests and natural environment.

The department further emphasized that any attempts to obstruct the duties of its officials or to threaten them will be met with immediate legal action. It stressed that no form of lawlessness would be tolerated.

The Balochistan Department of Forestry and Wildlife remains committed to the protection of rare and national heritage animals, such as the Suleimani Markhor. The department reiterated its dedication to ongoing legal action to preserve biodiversity, natural environments, and wildlife, without discrimination.

The department also urged the public to play an active role in preserving the province’s natural heritage by reporting illegal activities and contributing to the creation of a safer, greener Balochistan.
