Back-to-Back Technical Glitches in Boeing 787 Flights Spark Outrage in India

New Delhi / New York – Just days after the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash, Indian travelers are once again gripped by fear as two separate Boeing 787 Dreamliner flights were forced to make emergency landings on Monday due to technical malfunctions.
According to international aviation sources, United Airlines flight UA 82, en route from New York to Delhi, took off at around 9:30 PM but issued a general emergency alert just 50 minutes into the flight. The pilot was forced to divert back, and the nearly 4-year-old Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner safely landed at Newark Airport approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes after takeoff.
In a separate but almost simultaneous incident, United flight UA 83, which had departed from Delhi to New York, was midway through its 16-hour journey when the pilot declared an emergency. The flight was diverted and made an emergency landing at Boston Airport in the United States.
Both incidents have led to an outpouring of frustration and anger on Indian social media, with users questioning the safety of Boeing aircraft. A user named Srikant Sharma wrote, “Not a single day goes by without hearing about a problem with the Boeing 787. These Dreamliners should be grounded.”
Following the two emergencies, the next scheduled UA 83 flight from Delhi to New York was canceled, adding to growing concerns.
These incidents come just weeks after the June 22 emergency landing of the same UA 82 flight due to a technical issue shortly after takeoff from New York. Moreover, the aircraft that crashed in Ahmedabad just 30 seconds after takeoff was also a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, further intensifying public anxiety.
Aviation authorities are yet to issue a consolidated statement, but calls for safety reviews, stricter regulations, and even temporary bans on Boeing 787 aircraft are growing louder in India.
