SpaceX’s Starlink Faces Regulatory Hurdles in Pakistan, Satellite Internet Launch Delayed

Islamabad:** The rollout of **Starlink**, SpaceX’s satellite internet service, in **Pakistan** has hit a major roadblock, as the company struggles to obtain the necessary **telecommunications license**. The delay has pushed back plans to provide high-speed satellite internet across the country.

The **Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board (PSARB)** has officially **revoked Starlink’s provisional registration**, which was granted on **March 21** for initial preparations and regulatory compliance. The temporary registration expired in **June**, and Starlink failed to secure permanent status.

The **Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA)** has made it clear that **no internet services can be provided** without a **permanent license**, which Starlink has **not yet acquired**.

Starlink officials acknowledged the setback, stating that they are **assessing the situation** and awaiting a **clear policy direction from the government** before proceeding.

Starlink’s entry was seen as a potential game-changer for **remote and underserved regions** of Pakistan, offering fast and reliable connectivity via **low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites**. However, with the latest regulatory challenges, its availability remains uncertain.
