Federal Minister Criticizes Provincial Government’s Operation Against Encroachments, Says His Hotel Was Affected

Peshawar: Federal Minister and President of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Amir Muqam, has strongly criticized the provincial government for targeting people’s legal properties in the aftermath of the Swat tragedy. He accused the government of using the “destruction of tourism” as a smokescreen to cover up its own failures.
In a statement, Amir Muqam condemned the operation in Swat, which he said was carried out under the guise of removing encroachments but ended up damaging people’s legitimate and lawful properties. He termed this move as “highly regrettable and shameful,” adding that it was an attempt by the provincial government to divert attention from its own inefficiencies.
Muqam also revealed that his own hotel had been affected by the operation. He said the boundary wall of his legally owned property had been demolished as part of the operation, calling it “political vengeance” and a “failed attempt to divert attention from the real issues.” He further emphasized that all legal documents, ownership proofs, NOC, and approved building plans for his hotel were in order and endorsed by relevant authorities. He announced his intention to pursue legal action.
The federal minister expressed solidarity with those, including Haji Jalat Khan, who he said had suffered injustice, and he condemned the damage caused to their legitimate properties.
