Bird’s Nest Found in Air India Flight’s Wing, Passengers Deplaned Before Takeoff

Mumbai: An Air India flight from Mumbai to Bangkok faced an unusual delay on June 25 after a bird’s nest was discovered in the aircraft’s wing, prompting authorities to deplane all passengers and conduct a thorough safety inspection.
According to Indian media, the incident occurred on flight AI 2354, which was scheduled to depart at 7:45 AM. However, the flight was delayed by more than three hours after a passenger spotted the nest and informed the cabin crew.
The passenger, Rajneesh Choudhary, shared a video of the incident on Instagram, which has since gone viral. The video shows ground staff removing twigs and remnants of the nest from the aircraft’s wing.
Choudhary stated that his friend, Hanshi Paramjeet Singh, took a photo of the nest near the aircraft and showed it to a crew member, who immediately informed the pilot. The pilot acted responsibly, calling for the ground crew and initiating a full technical inspection to ensure flight safety.
Following the inspection, the airline provided an alternative aircraft for the passengers to continue their journey to Bangkok.
The viral video sparked a wave of reactions on social media. One user criticized Air India, saying, “After the Ahmedabad incident, if such negligence still occurs, it’s extremely dangerous. Maintenance lapses in aviation are unacceptable.”
Another user questioned the airline’s maintenance standards: “A bird managed to build a nest in the wing of a flight headed from Mumbai to Bangkok. Was no one inspecting the aircraft? How did this go unnoticed until the nest was fully built?”
The incident has raised concerns about aircraft maintenance and pre-flight inspections, particularly in busy hubs like Mumbai.
