Trump Signals No Further Military Action in Gulf, Downplays Iranian Missile Response

Washington D.C:U.S. President Donald Trump has signaled that he does not intend to escalate military operations in the Gulf region following Iran’s missile attack on a U.S. base in Qatar. According to CNN, a White House official confirmed that the Trump administration is not planning any further military action in response to the missile strike.

The official added that the Trump administration had anticipated that Iran would retaliate against U.S. actions targeting its nuclear facilities. “We knew that Iran would respond,” the official said, referencing a similar pattern of retaliation in 2020 when the U.S. killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in a drone strike.

Regarding the recent missile attack, the official clarified that the missiles fired by Iran did not hit their intended targets. However, the U.S. is prepared to escalate if necessary. “If required, President Trump is ready to raise tensions,” the official stated. Trump is expected to have further discussions with U.S. national security officials, which could potentially alter his approach depending on new developments.

**Trump’s Initial Reaction to the Attack:**
In his initial response to the missile strike, President Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to state that Iran’s retaliation was “very weak,” as anticipated. He explained that Iran fired 14 missiles, 13 of which were intercepted by U.S. defense systems, while one missile was allowed to pass as it posed no threat.

“I’m happy to report that no Americans were injured in the Iranian missile attack in Qatar, and the damage was negligible,” Trump said, emphasizing that the situation was not as severe as it could have been.

Trump also expressed a sense of relief, stating, “It appears that Iran has vented its anger, and I hope this will be the end of further hostilities.”

This stance comes amid heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran, with the two countries facing off over a range of issues, including Iran’s nuclear program and military activities in the region. Trump’s comments suggest a desire for de-escalation, but also leave open the possibility for more aggressive action should the situation deteriorate further.
