Omar Ayub Criticizes PPP’s Position, Declares Budget ‘Dead’

Islamabad: Opposition leader Omar Ayub has criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for its unclear stance, stating that the party does not know whether it should sit on the government benches or in the opposition.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Ayub declared the budget to be “dead,” signaling that it would not succeed. He further accused former President Asif Ali Zardari of harming the people of Sindh by approving the Cholistan Canal project, a decision he claimed would negatively impact the province’s resources.
Ayub warned that as the government’s import bill increases, the value of the Pakistani rupee will continue to decline, leading to higher debt servicing costs and a widening fiscal deficit.
He also spoke on international developments, saying, “First, Israel attacked Iran, and now the U.S. has done the same.” Ayub added that global oil reserves are dwindling, citing that the world’s oil stockpiles are down to just 14 days. He recalled his warning on the day Israel attacked Iran, urging that the global oil reserves be closely monitored.
