20-Member Committee Formed Under Ishaq Dar for Funding Major Water Reservoir Projects

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has established a high-level 20-member committee tasked with formulating recommendations for securing resources for the construction of large water reservoirs in Pakistan.
The committee will be led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and will include key federal ministers, advisors, and senior officials. Its mandate is to finalize recommendations by June 9, 2025, after consultations with all relevant provinces and stakeholders.
The committee’s composition includes Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar, and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Establishment.
Security Advisor Lieutenant General Asim Munir, the Chief Ministers of Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh, along with Prime Ministers of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, are also part of the committee.
Additionally, the committee will be assisted by several key secretaries, including the Cabinet Secretary, Secretary of Economic Affairs, Secretary of Finance, Secretary of Water Resources, and Secretary of Planning and Development.
The government has empowered the committee to add any relevant experts or officials to assist in completing its tasks effectively. The Cabinet Division will provide secretariat-level support to the committee.
