Brutal Murder of TikToker Sana Yousaf: ‘Killer Also Tried to Shoot Her Aunt’

Islamabad: In a heartbreaking account, the father of TikToker Sana Yousaf, who was brutally murdered on June 2 in Islamabad, revealed that the assailant not only killed his daughter but also attempted to shoot her aunt while fleeing the scene.
Speaking to a British news outlet from their hometown in Chitral, Syed Yousaf Hasan described his daughter as brave and strong, saying, “She wasn’t just my daughter — she was like a courageous son.”
Recounting the tragic events, he said he was near the house visiting a friend when he received a call about an emergency. Upon reaching the hospital, he was informed by doctors that Sana had passed away. Legal procedures at PIMS Hospital delayed the handover of the body until around 12:30 a.m., after which the family returned to Chitral with her remains.
Hasan narrated that his sister, who was home at the time, initially thought a balloon had burst when she heard the gunshot. As she moved toward Sana’s room, the suspect exited and pointed a pistol at her — but the gun misfired. The killer then fled the house.
“She ran outside shouting that an armed man had entered the house. At that time, she had no idea Sana had been shot,” he said. Sana’s mother had gone out to buy detergent at her daughter’s request, as Eid preparations were underway — an absence the killer exploited.
Hasan stressed there were no known enmities or threats. “We gave our daughter proper guidance before allowing her on social media. I trusted her completely,” he said, adding that Sana had only been active on social media for a little over a year.
Sana aspired to become a doctor and was doing well academically. Although her father wanted her to pursue civil service exams, her passion remained in the medical field. She was his only daughter, while his 15-year-old son was in the village at the time of the incident.
On the investigation, Hasan expressed full satisfaction with the authorities. “I am grateful to Islamabad Police and other agencies for arresting the suspect within 22 hours and recovering her phone and other belongings. I fully trust the investigation and appreciate the efforts of the police and Islamabad’s IGP.”
The tragic murder has sparked widespread outrage and renewed concerns about the safety of women and social media influencers in Pakistan.
