Hearing of 11 Cases Related to May 9 Incident Adjourned Again Without Proceedings

Rawalpindi: The hearing of 11 cases related to the May 9 incident was once again adjourned without any court proceedings. The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Amjad Ali Shah presided over the case, where Prosecutor Zaheer Ali Shah, defense lawyers, and former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid were present. PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan marked his attendance via jail production orders.
During the brief proceedings, the prosecutor informed the court that copies of the charge sheets are being provided to those accused who had not received them yet. Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing of all 11 cases until June 14 without further action.
No Deal or Leniency, Says Imran Khan’s Lawyer
Later, speaking to media representatives, Imran Khan’s lawyer Naeem Haider Panjotha dismissed all rumors of any deal or leniency, saying there is no truth to claims about the PTI founder’s release before Eid.
He revealed that three years ago, Imran Khan was offered a deal to stay silent for three years in exchange for favorable treatment, to which Khan replied, “I won’t remain silent for even three minutes.”
Panjotha stated that the PTI founder has agreed to talks only on three points: Indian aggression, terrorism, and the country’s economic situation. He alleged that PTI lawmakers were being sentenced without proper evidence or final arguments, and that there is a conspiracy to convict 52 PTI Members of the National Assembly.
He further said that Imran Khan has made it clear that he will not bow down under any circumstances and held the judiciary responsible if justice is not served. He accused authorities of threatening with constitutional amendments, saying, “Bring as many amendments as you want, disqualify as many MNAs and senators as you can — we will not surrender.”
According to Panjotha, Khan was told in jail to apologize for May 9 to resolve all matters. In response, Imran Khan demanded the release of actual footage and strict punishment for those found guilty. “The one who orchestrated May 9 should apologize,” Khan reportedly said.
He also added that the Leader of the Opposition has now received notices under Articles 62 and 63. “No negotiations are being held regarding the PTI founder’s release,” he reiterated. “Talks can only happen for the sake of the country — otherwise it’s jail, not a deal,” Panjotha concluded.
