Legendary Actor Sultan Rahi Remembered for His Iconic Roles and Humble Personality

KARACHI:Sultan Rahi, one of the most prolific actors in the history of Pakistani cinema, is being fondly remembered for both his blockbuster films and his deeply humble and charitable nature.
Having starred in over 600 films, Rahi dominated the silver screen with legendary performances in movies such as *Maula Jatt*, *Bashira*, *Sher Khan*, *Chand Waryam*, and *Sholay*. He is widely regarded as the original “Maula Jatt” and a pioneer of action-packed “gandasa” films that defined Punjabi cinema during the 1970s and 1980s.
In a recent TV interview, his son Haider Sultan emotionally recalled his last meeting with his father. “He was leaving for Islamabad for a visa-related matter. I had an uneasy feeling that day, so I hugged him tightly before he left. That was the last time I saw him,” said Haider. Sultan Rahi was tragically shot and killed by dacoits on January 9, 1996.
Haider also highlighted his father’s deeply religious and humble nature. “He always greeted people first, even janitors and workers. He funded the construction of several mosques from his personal income,” he said. Haider recalled an incident where a studio worker stopped Sultan Rahi, saying he hadn’t greeted him that day. Rahi stepped out of his car, embraced the man, and greeted him warmly — a moment that deeply moved the worker.
Known for living a life aligned with the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Sultan Rahi’s legacy goes far beyond the cinema. His kindness, humility, and service to others continue to inspire fans and fellow artists across generations.
The Pakistani film industry and millions of fans still mourn his loss, but his work and values ensure that **Sultan Rahi remains an eternal hero — both on-screen and off**.
