Ban Imposed on Screening of Indian Films During Eid-ul-Azha to Promote Local Cinema

Lahore: In an effort to promote the local film industry, Pakistani authorities have imposed a ban on the screening of Indian films in cinemas across the country during the Eid-ul-Azha holidays.
The ban includes all Indian films, including Punjabi titles and dubbed versions, and will be in effect starting two days before Eid and continue for two weeks afterward. The initiative is aimed at giving Pakistani productions greater visibility at the box office during the festive period and ensuring the success of locally produced films released on Eid.
This year, several high-profile Pakistani films are set to hit cinemas during Eid-ul-Azha, including Lo Guru starring Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed, and the horror film Deemak featuring Faisal Qureshi and Samina Peerzada. Anticipation among fans for these releases is high.
The move is seen as a strategic effort to support the domestic entertainment industry by limiting competition from high-budget Indian films during one of the most lucrative movie-going seasons of the year.
