Saif Ali Khan Reflects on Career Struggles, Credits Hard Work and Luck for Success

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has candidly spoken about the highs and lows of his film career, revealing that there was a period when his career was in decline and his popularity had noticeably faded.
In a recent interview with Indian media, the 55-year-old actor dismissed the notion that success came easily to him or that he was always offered the best film projects.
Saif said that contrary to popular belief, he was not consistently getting top roles. Instead, he often worked on films that other actors were unwilling to take on, which he believes may have helped him remain relevant in the industry.
The actor admitted that there was a time when his career lost momentum and his popularity declined. However, he said that luck also played an important role in helping him navigate difficult phases.
Recalling his early years in Bollywood, Saif said he had the privilege of working with renowned filmmaker Yash Chopra, an opportunity he considered a major honor. However, he noted that the film failed to perform at the box office, leading to a period of stagnation in his career.
He explained that the film Yeh Dillagi later gave his career a fresh boost. The movie, which also starred Akshay Kumar, was well received by audiences and helped revive his standing in the industry.
Saif credited his eventual success to a combination of opportunity, determination, and hard work. He said that while he was fortunate to receive chances at different stages of his career, he always made every effort to give his best and work diligently.
The actor also observed that the film industry was different in the past, with audiences and industry professionals generally being more accepting of an artist’s failures and career setbacks.
