PTI Leaders Condemn Polygraph Test Attempt on Imran Khan, Call It Disrespectful

ISLAMABAD – Senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have strongly condemned the reported attempt to conduct a polygraph test on party founder Imran Khan, terming it a “humiliating” and “disrespectful” act.
Former federal minister Sheikh Waqas Akram said that despite letters from opposition leaders in the National Assembly and Senate — Umar Ayub and Shibli Faraz — no steps are being taken to appoint a new Chief Election Commissioner. He called the attempt to subject Imran Khan to a polygraph test “an insult to his dignity and office.”
Former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser also weighed in, clarifying that no decision has been made yet to bring a no-confidence motion against the current Speaker. “If we do decide to proceed, it will be with full commitment,” he added.
He further denied rumors of backdoor negotiations, stating, “There are no secret meetings or talks underway. We are working to unite all political parties for the sake of the country.”
Both leaders reiterated that the idea of a polygraph test for Imran Khan was not only unnecessary but also politically motivated, aiming to undermine the former Prime Minister’s credibility.
The statements reflect growing tensions between PTI and the ruling coalition, with the party leadership accusing the establishment of targeting its founder through controversial and degrading measures.
