Police Raid Homes of PTI Leaders Ahead of Karachi-to-Sukkur “Release March

Karachi:Hours after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced its “Release March” from Karachi to Sukkur starting May 23 to demand the release of its jailed founding chairman, police launched a series of late-night raids on the homes of key party leaders across the city.
According to sources, police targeted the residences of former MPA Saifur Rehman, party leader Rizwan Khanzada, and others. Raids were also reported at the homes of Rabistan Khan and multiple other PTI figures.
PTI leader Aleema Khan strongly condemned the crackdown, stating, *“The march will take place, and so will the sit-in.”* She expressed solidarity with Rizwan Khanzada in a phone call, assuring continued commitment to the party’s movement.
Prominent legal expert Salman Akram Raja also raised concerns over the police actions, calling them unacceptable and a violation of democratic norms.
The “Release March” is being positioned by PTI as a peaceful protest for political rights and justice, but the government appears to be taking pre-emptive steps to suppress mobilization.
