Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder Destroys India’s S-400 Defense System in Adampur as ‘Operation Bunyān al-Marsūs’ Intensifies

Islamabad** – In a major blow to India’s air defense capabilities, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has reportedly destroyed an Indian S-400 surface-to-air missile system stationed in Adampur using hypersonic missiles launched from JF-17 Thunder fighter jets. The system, valued at approximately \$1.5 billion, was considered one of India’s most advanced defense assets.
This strike is part of Pakistan’s ongoing *Operation Bunyān al-Marsūs* (Iron Wall), a large-scale retaliatory campaign launched at dawn following what Pakistan terms as “cowardly attacks” by India on civilian areas in Azad Kashmir and parts of Punjab. Earlier strikes in this operation have already destroyed key Indian military installations, including Udhampur and Pathankot airbases, as well as a BrahMos missile storage facility.
According to security officials, 12 high-value targets inside India have been hit so far. The operation began with the launch of a *Fatah-1* missile early in the morning, which marked the first direct Pakistani missile strike in the current phase of escalation.
The destruction of the S-400 system, widely regarded as one of the most sophisticated air defense platforms globally, marks a significant shift in the regional power balance and showcases the growing capability of the PAF’s JF-17 Thunder fleet—particularly its deployment of hypersonic missile technology.
The situation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors remains highly volatile, with Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, having convened an emergency session of the National Command Authority (NCA) to assess strategic decisions going forward.
