Islamabad Court Issues Non-Bailable Arrest Warrants for KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi
Islamabad: A district and sessions court in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi over his failure to appear before the court in a case related to allegations against state institutions.
According to reports, Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah heard the case concerning remarks allegedly made by the chief minister that were said to have damaged the reputation of state institutions.
During the hearing, the court expressed displeasure over Sohail Afridi’s absence and ordered law enforcement authorities to arrest him and produce him before the court.
The judge warned that if Sohail Afridi fails to appear at the next hearing, proceedings to declare him a proclaimed offender could be initiated.
Following the issuance of the non-bailable arrest warrants, the court adjourned further proceedings until September 3.
It is pertinent to note that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered a case against Sohail Afridi under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
